What Florists Can do to Help During the COVID-19 Pandemic

In a world filled with uncertainty, florists can help shed a positive light. As the world tries to navigate through these challenging times, florists are called to lift spirits and relieve stress by delivering smiles.

Mother nature has given us amazing tools that help heal in the dreariest times; flowers and plants are those tools. Studies show flowers have a positive effect on the human body and a person’s overall mental state.

The University of North Florida conducted “The Impact of Flowers on Perceived Stress Among Women” study and discovered a correlation between the reduction of stress when flowers were added into an indoor environment.

Nancy Etcoff, Ph.D., of Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, found that the presence of flowers can have an immediate effect on a person’s mental state. When placed around the home, flowers increase compassion while lowering anxiety, stress and sadness.

Flowers can give a boost in energy, happiness, and enthusiasm. Placing flowers and plants in rooms that are frequently visited, such as the living room and kitchen, can help reduce negativity energy.

Plants are additionally beneficial, because they are detoxifying, helping with both physical and emotional wellbeing. Plants reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the air. They also help control humidity and dust levels, lower room temperature and can add pure oxygen back into your space.

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, utilize your gift of floral design to brighten up the lives of those around you. Share a smile where they feel as though they are lacking and open the door for others to do the same. Lift your spirits by designing something beautiful and let someone else do the same by offering flower delivery in your community.
