Innovative Ideas, Incredible Talent…Amazing Floral Arrangements!/?php print $breadcrumb; ?>
Celebrating the breathtaking creations of three imaginative designers
The Floral Design Council program was initiated by 1-800-Flowers.com to celebrate the passion of floral artisans across the country. The program enables 1-800-Flowers.com to tap into the boundless creativity of floral designers at retail flower shops large and small – urging designers coast to coast to envision and develop truly original arrangements that emphasize local trends and underscore local culture. Indeed, the talents of these imaginative designers are a driving creative force behind the 1-800-Flowers.com product line.
The most recent Design Council showcased three gifted floral designers: Breanna Cartwright of Fresh Ideas Flower Company in Modesto, California; Matt Wohlfarht of Floral Concepts in Houston, Texas; and Ashlee Roberson of Simply Roses in Ormond Beach, Florida. Shown here is a sampling of the many artistic arrangements created by each of these three designers during the Floral Design Council event.
Breanna’s colorful design takes the popular a-DOG-able product concept a step further, generating an innovative “unicorn” look boasting multi-hued accents on the top of the design. “My inspiration came from an employee of 1-800-Flowers.com who saw my wild rainbow hair and that led him to ask me to create the design,” says Breanna. She combined carnations in several colors, adding thistle for a pop of blue, and the colors of the blooms are arranged in sections to help make the unicorn accents stand out. The design sits in a 7” handle basket.
“Participating in the Floral Design Council was fun and the
1-800-Flowers.com staff was amazing, I would love to be part of future Design Councils anytime,” states Breanna.
Matt’s inviting design underscores the beauty of a succulent garden. The arrangement also includes blue hyacinth and dusty miller, accented with river rocks in a playful “rolling” container. Explaining his design inspiration, Matt says: “I wanted to create a product people will not only enjoy, but a long-lasting product they will be able to enjoy for a long time.”
“The Floral Design Council was a great experience,” adds Matt. “I’m always coming up with new arrangements and I look forward to going back to another Design Council with fresh ideas.”
Ashlee’s flowing design is certain to be enjoyed both by recipients and by people who purchase the product to complement the decor of their own homes. “For the look of this arrangement, I was inspired by natural light, bright whites, earthy greens and nudes,” says Ashlee. The design includes a textured mix of tulips, stock, lisianthus, veronica, rice flower, viburnum, and Queen Anne’s lace. The blooms are set into a bed of lush greens made up of eucalyptus, geranium and dusty miller, finished with succulent accents…all in a mauve ceramic pot container.
“The Floral Design Council was amazing,” Ashlee states. She mentions that working closely with the 1-800-Flowers.com team was “incredible” for her and the other designers who attended the event. “They asked questions and were receptive to our answers.” The end result, Ashlee adds, is that each designer was able to “try new things and offer a fresh perspective.”
