How to Reach Different Business Demographics?

As business owners, it’s important to think about ways to reach out to different demographics in order to maximize profits.

It’s hard enough to acquire new customers and even harder to make them commit to a business. Luckily for us, flowers are for everyone, and we can cater to different demographics at once. These four tips will help you reach a broader audience.  

 

1.     Go Social!

The key to reaching different demographics is to have a social media presence. It’s free to create a business account in the most important platforms, which are Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Youtube, Tiktok and Snapchat.

You don’t need to have an account in every platform, but you do need to consider who is your audience.

2.  Know Your Audience.

You need to take a moment to think about your desired customers. Who are you speaking to? What do they like? What are their spending habits? These are important questions that you should consider before you decide on any platform.

 

Things to remember:

  • The Silent Generation (born 1945 and before) mostly uses Facebook, Pinterest and LinkedIn.

  • Baby Boomers (born 1946 – 1964) mostly uses Facebook and LinkedIn.

  • Generation X (born 1965 – 1976) mostly uses Facebook.

  • Millennials (born 1977 – 1995) mostly uses Instagram, Snapchat and YouTube.

  • Generation Z (born 1996 – TBD) mostly uses Instagram, Tiktok, Snapchat and YouTube.

3.     When in Doubt - Don’t Play Favorites.

If you don’t know which demographic you are targeting, try to take a diverse approach. Some businesses tend to focus too much on one specific demographic, while ignoring the rest. By making different types of content, you can reach different people without sacrificing your core target audience. Consider tutorials, DIYs and how-to videos.
